24km from Castiglione you find the area of Vetulonia, which today is a small village on a hill which dominates the plain of Grosseto, but it was once one of the most important centres of Etruria. The village is worth a visit even just for its splendid panoramic position. From here you can see a good part of the Maremma, from Argentario in Massa Marittima to Amiata. Apart from the panorama, the Etruscan necropolis just outside the village is also worth a visit. The cairn built Etruscan tombs are remarkable, in particular the tomb of the Pietrera and the tomb of the Diavolino and the archaeological museum. The two churches in the village are also not to be missed, particularly the Oratory of Santa Maria delle Grazie. The home of Saints Fabiano and Sebastiano. Inside you can see the 18th century altar in plaster which frames the fresco with the Madonna and child between Saints Fabiano and Sebastiano.
