An ancient village, situated on a hill at 380 m above sea level, about 15 km from the Golfo del Sole. Famous for the mines of copper and silver, utilized until 1300, then reopened from 1830 until 1970, and for the Piazza Duomo, one of the most famous piazzas of Italy which has become a Unesco heritage site and preserves intact its medieval appearance. The medieval festival of the Balestro del Girifalco, a competition between the different quarters of the city, is a historic re-enactment.
